We tell the stories of today’s immigrants

Feet in 2 Worlds (Fi2W) is a news outlet for immigrant voices and a journalism training organization. Our mission is to address the historic underrepresentation of immigrants and people of color in the news media. We produce journalism that tells underreported stories from immigrant communities
Fi2W offers paid fellowships in both reporting and editing, as well as skill-building workshops and internships to early and mid-career journalists interested in making stories for radio, podcasts, and online news. Our work has a significant and lasting impact on the careers of the journalists we work with. Our network of journalists builds cultural competence in mainstream media newsrooms and brings innovation and resilience to news media that serves immigrant audiences.
Fi2W publishes the work of our fellows and contributors on our website and our podcast, A Better Life? Our reporting is developed with expert care and guidance from Fi2W staff and our alumni network. We maintain deep connections with culturally and linguistically diverse communities across the nation.
Our training programs help participants sharpen their skills in story development, audio production and audience engagement. Media partnerships and creative collaborations ensure our stories’ exposure on numerous platforms including local and nationally syndicated radio, digital news sites, podcasts, and conferences. Through our alumni network and partnerships with outlets including PRX’s The World, Yes! Magazine, Slate, WNYC and NHJA’s palabra. Feet in 2 Worlds journalism reaches millions of listeners and readers.
Feet in 2 Worlds has won multiple awards from the Society of Professional Journalists, including SPJ’s New America award and the Sigma Delta Chi award for Public Service in Radio Journalism. Other awards we’ve won include: the Golden Crane Podcast award from the Asian American Podcasters Association for A Better Life? (2020 and 2021); the IACP (International Association of Culinary Professionals) 2013 Digital Media Award for the Food in 2 Worlds podcast; an award from the Association of Food Journalists for the video La Comida de los Cocineros (2015); multiple Ippies Awards, honoring excellence in New York’s ethnic and community media including the podcast Between Fear and Hope – Young Immigrants in a Post-Election America (2016).
Fi2W works with journalists from a broad range of immigrant communities as well as students at The New School, the University of North Carolina, NYU, Universidad del Sagrado Corazón in San Juan. PR, and the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism.
